Vintage Washstand Refresh

I adore a little vintage washstand.  They usually have beautiful lines and are great functional pieces for us today.  I have seen them used as night stands, TV stands even a “catch all” to drop keys and place mail on in a foyer.

This little guy was in rough shape BUT I saw potential.

The veneer was coming off the door so I used some wood glue and clamps to get that secured back in place.  Then I decided to use some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint colors I don’t usually paint with – scandinavian pink and french linen (which is new).

I did a base coat in the pink and also painted the inside of the drawer in the pink as well. Then I did a lovely coat of french linen.  Finally I applied clear wax by Annie Sloan, lightly distressed the edges and buffed her up and she was finished.  I’m calling her Grayson.

I stumbled upon your blog when I googled “antique washstand chalk painted” and your blog came up with your little piece called “Grayson.” It is so funny because that is the EXACT same piece I have in my garage that I was googling. I use Annie Sloan chalk paint as well and was trying to come up with a plan for this piece. Not only was I excited to see you had the same one but what I also couldn’t believe was that not only was it the same piece of furniture I have but it also shares my youngest son’s name – Grayson. Who’d have thought that in a simple search we’d share so many similarities!
