Getting Personal

So yesterday was my 40th birthday.  In spite of writing a blog and sharing a good portion of my crazy life with those of you that follow along I am actually a pretty private person and not big on fuss about birthdays (especially big ones).  Now my hubby on the other hand we celebrate his birthday for an entire month!

My birthday wishes were simple – 1. no hauling furniture (this didn’t happen) 2. taking my house back.  Over the past few weeks I’ve been storing furniture in our house and as you know we are renovating the basement and the garage has been stuffed with the basement stuff.  Needless to say I’ve been going crazy with the disorganization.

When I feel like life is getting out of control I clean and organize (I usually do this on Sundays) so that is what I wanted for my 40th birthday to take my house back and reorganize my personal life.  My super fabulous mom came over and helped me clean my house.   It was the best birthday present every.  We moved some furniture into the new basement and I started making it cozy.

I crave simple things in life.  We have plenty of “stuff” so when it comes to birthdays and holidays my list is simple:

– clean sheets

– a clean and organized home

– movies, the sappier the better

– Starbucks coffee

– my puppies

– a good long run

– and of course my family & close friends

I’m planning on laying low for the weekend and doing some things around the house, nesting I guess you could say.  We do have a barn sale going on this weekend so check it out and have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday, Kelly! Welcome to the 40’s club 🙂 I was at the Barn sale today and it all looks amazing!

  3. Sometimes, it’s just the simple things that make life great. In our business, it’s so easy to let clutter and furniture in various states of repair/painting, everywhere! It takes constant effort to keep it under control. Throw in a basement remodel and you’ve got chaos!

    Enjoy your day/week/month and life!
