About Stylish Patina

Hi, my name is Kelly and I live in Falls Church, Virginia. I never thought I would say it but I live in the town I was raised in…totally crazy but I love it. In my “pre-blog life” I was a VP of Operations for an education products company and when the company was sold a few years ago I decided to start consulting on my own and created Jump-Start Consulting. I love working with small to medium size businesses and helping them get a “jump-start” so I figured I’d give it a go.

With my new found flexibility working from home I went back to my love salvaging & repurposing vintage finds. I had a few friends encourage me to start selling my “wares” and there Stylish Patina was born. I fell in love with Annie Sloan Chalk paint and quickly became the Northern Virginia / D.C. distributor. I sell the paint through the website as well as at my dealer space in Falls Church at Stifel & Capra {260 West Broad Street, Falls Church}. The shop is open Mon-Sat 10-5pm and Sun 12-5pm.

I’ve been finding & refreshing furniture since after college when I was too broke to buy “real” furniture. Eventually I had the money for “real furniture” but loved the character that came with older pieces. I grew up with a mom that enjoyed antique stores and estate sales so I guess in some ways “it’s in the blood”. I love old homes and real wood furniture with a lil’ patina. This blog is about all kinds of stuff – my family, the junk I find & fix up, my business ventures, our 4 dogs, and crazy everyday life! It also serves as a website for Stylish Patina services and products. A few months ago I met my good friend and partner in crime Yvette Freeman. She was in the middle of opening her dream a wonderful store called FOUNDRY in D.C. it is more than worth the drive into the city! Yvette and I partnered up and opened The Stylish Patina Barn in Frederick MD. We hold monthly barn sales the 3rd weekend of each month {Fri-Sun, 10-5pm …you must come see it:-)

I also have an Etsy shop that I try and keep updated. If you want to know exactly when the new cool stuff comes in “hot off Ira” I recommend “following” the blog and “liking” SP in Facebook since that is where everything gets “released” first.

Now introducing Ira my husbands 1976 truck {yes we named the truck}, quickly became the SP mascot since he helps haul all of my treasures. The name Stylish Patina was inspired by Ira. My husband and I kept joking Ira had lots of patina hence the name “Stylish Patina”.
