Before & After : Fireplace Facelift

January 17, 2018 Leave a Comment

This week’s “Transformation Tuesday” comes to you courtesy of Liz, a long time staff member here at Stylish Patina. Liz loves blue-green colors and is never afraid to go bold with her color choices! Once again, it paid off with this beautiful fireplace transformation!

Liz’s picked up this adorable electric fireplace in perfect time for the spells of extreme cold we’ve been having! This piece has so many sweet details that were sure to add extra charm to any space. But, it was a little darker than she preferred. Being the talented DIYer she is, Liz decided to use Chalk Paint to make it her own.

Liz started by adding an ornate medallion to the top of the fireplace, which she picked up at Home Depot. It gives the piece a little extra character! The next step was to get painting — She mixed together Florence and Aubusson to make a beautiful bright teal (side note: this is one of our favorite color recipes!) Liz opted for full coverage on her piece, doing two solid coats of paint. To bring out some of the detail, she used gold leaf with some of Annie Sloan’s Goldsize, over the medallion.

Check out the finished look!

We love how this project turned out and how she used chalk paint to turn her fireplace into a cozy focal point in her space.
