ABOUT THE OWNER
Kelly Millspaugh Thompson is a Northern Virginia native, wife and mom to four kiddos five and under. She established Stylish Patina in 2010 and has her flagship Boutique in her hometown of Falls Church City, Virginia right outside of Washington, D.C. Stylish Patina has turned into a lifestyle brand with many facets and offerings: Interior Design l Real Estate l Staging l Renovation. It is grounded by the Boutique in Falls Church City.
Kelly received her undergrad degree from The College of Charleston and her M.B.A. from the Smith School of Business. She had a successful career as a Vice President of Operations and Marketing for over 15 years prior to venturing out as an Entrepreneur.
After years of designing and painting vintage furnishings for herself she began selling her vintage finds and bespoke furniture on Etsy in 2010. Kelly is known as the DIY and Furniture painting Maven in the Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia area. After much success she opened her first retail location, Stylish Patina Barn in Frederick, MD and eventually opened her flag ship shop in Falls Church City in 2013. Since then she has popped up in the trendy Mosaic District in Fairfax, Va. and continually presents at events and to groups throughout the D.C. Metro area educating on how you too can become a DIY Maven on a budget. Kelly also runs the Make It Take It Booth at the Capital Home Show twice a year. She also speaks to groups on how to start a small business and the ins and outs of marketing, operations and business development.
Kelly’s flair for finding vintage furnishings and giving them new life on any budget is at the heart of her burgeoning success. Her concepts center on the idea that home should be a comfortable place and design should be livable. Her favorite DIY (Do It Yourself) tool to refresh vintage furniture is currently Jolie Decorative Paint + General Finishes Paint which she sells in her store. Stylish Patina has an extensive DIY section and knowledgable staff to help you with any project you might want to take on. If you don’t want to do the painting they offer custom painting or you can buy a piece they have already transformed! Kelly also teaches classes on how to use all of her DIY products and offers a host of other fun and interesting classes.
