If you follow along on IG Stories (link here) you have seen we are trying to tick away at our “to do’s list” on our house….I’m not sure why all of a sudden I am feeling the need to get some of these lingering items done but I am and it feel good. I like to be organized it makes me feel calm and I’m a big time introverted homebody so doing projects on my house makes me happy.
Lately with all the kids, new baby, work, etc. I haven’t been making time to do things in the house. Over Christmas break the kids were sick so we were trapped inside and I started piddling around and attacking project like painting the floors in the kids craft room (check it out on IG stories, blog post to come) I was loving it so I just kept going…..
This past weekend we ended up having a split rail fence put in. It’s really making the front of the house look like a country cottage outside the big city. We also finally added the shutters, blog post here. if you want to check it out.
I haven’t been able to get a good picture of the house yet with the fence up….I’m not loving it yet only because the wood is new and yellow but in time the elements will add natural patina and I know we will love it. The kids asked “why are you putting up a fence? Is it to keep us in? You know we can get out?” They crack me up.
We had a few other things being done at the house at the same time – putting in a door to a storage area in the back and putting back together our kitchenette in the basement. Liam my 5 year was all about “helping” he even busted out his tool belt and tools. Thank goodness the guys were really sweet and patient. I call my husband “handy hubby” so this is “handy Liam”.
Let the projects continue…….are you doing any fun renovations or DIY projects right now? Don’t forget if you are looking to buy or sell a home I’m a licensed Realtor in VA and have partners in D.C. + MD. I’d love to help you email me firstname.lastname@example.org, check out more details here.

If this date doesn’t work for you check out all of our workshops or call us to set up a personal session!
Learn the basics of painting furniture / kitchen cabinets and more…. We will introduce you to two paint lines we recommend — Jolie Paint + General Finishes Paint.
Jolie Matte Paint the premier decorative paint on the market. It requires no priming and no sanding. General Finishes Paint may require a bit more prep however; it’s a nice modern looking paint line.
You will learn…

– How to apply furniture wax clear + colored / poly vs. wax
– How to distress furniture
– How to buff for a nice high shine look
– We will discuss tricks for a modern finish vs. a rustic look

Welcome to a formal introduction of the Jolie Paint line! Jolie Paints has an extensive color palette, with at least one sure to please everyone. I think we can all agree, however, that everyone loves a good neutral. Jolie Home recognizes this, and has a Signature Neutrals Collection.
The collection includes five classic colors that are staples in any home. These five are likely your fashion favorites as well –colors that you are comfortable with and want to use over and over again. The Signature Neutrals can be paired with virtually any color in the Jolie color range.
This week, we’ll introduce one of the Signature Neutrals: Gesso White. We all love our Jolie whites, and Gesso White is no exception. Gesso White is a clean white with cool undertones. In Italian, “Gesso” translates into “Chalk.” Gesso White is our go-to white for all interiors because it works well with all colors.
To find more inspiration using Gesso White, check out our Pinterest Board!
Stay tuned to learn more about Jolie’s Signature Neutrals! Next up: Swedish Grey.
Feeling inspired? Get started today! Jolie Paints require no prep, priming, or sanding!
Need some additional guidance? Take one of our workshops to learn about application, distressing, and waxing!
Don’t want to do the work yourself? We also offer custom painting for YOUR piece!

Are you looking for the best NEUTRAL wall paint colors that aren’t white? I’m giving you my vote here today! Wall colors are tricky sometimes… do you go white, cream, grey, greige, or a statement color? There are far too many options! Most of my clients that hire me just to help with paint color for the house are overwhelmed with options and I can’t blame them….sometimes I get overwhelmed too!
You want to make the right decision and every time you look at Pinterest or Instagram a new color is “trending” ….. well here are a few of my “go to colors”. I have a board dedicated to wall colors on Pinterest here that I am always adding too if you want to check that out too. Okay so here are a few of my current fav’s….
AGREEABLE GREY SW
REPOSE GRAY + MINDFUL GRAY SW
I love this Cheat Sheet that Kylie M. Interiors put together too! Check out her blog!
I am trying to go with grays that don’t have too much blue in them, it’s hard to find but I think these three colors fit the bill! One other all time fav is Behr (Home Depot) Silver Tradition. I have used it MANY times. it has a very light hint of blue grey but it’s super soft.
And the other color that has gotten a lot of traction over the years is BM Grey Owl. I used it in my home and love it but I would say it can lean towards blue and looks a bit different in each room. I love this visual image on the wall from Val a blogger Lovely Lucky Life!
I hope some of this info is useful for you! Wall color can be hard based on light and what else is going on in the room. I’m always happy to help with a color consult, check out my design services page and if none of these options are what you are looking for just email me.
Happy Friday! I’ve had a lot of questions about the difference between Jolie Paint and why I love it.
- It’s sooooo eeaasy! And very smooth to the touch once it’s been applied and dries even before wax. And the clear wax is AMAZING! I think much easier to apply than anything I have used.
- The COLORS that Jolie offers are gorgeous and fit for the USA marketplace. The Jolie colors and all the marketing materials spoke to me as a painter, home owner and designer.
- The marketing materials available for our customers rocks! Not only is it beautiful and like looking at a Home Decor magazine it is stuffed with tutorials. And the color deck….hello 300 colors with easy 1 to 1 mixes you can make with your eyes closed. This is a MUST for our furniture painters and designers.
Check out more on my Instagram account and stories!
Come in and chat with us ….. we are happy to walk you through the new line….seriously it’s fabulous!
